Yep, this list has some of my favorite AUDs. I'd throw up some more, but I don't want to overwhelm our new friend. And I also hope that some of our "SBD Only" folks will take some time to really give a listen to a few of these and re-consider.

I'm not SBD only, although I much prefer 'em, but I'll tell you what, that damn MOTB arbuthnot put up last week made me reconsider everything. Holy smokes, that was unbelievable.

Oh, and to the OP-- welcome to the Dead! You'll take some razzing for the "no pre-'77" bit," maybe, but that's just part of the fun. Go for what moves you for starters. The incarnations of other eras have a way of revealing their magic slowly, over time. Except the 90's. ; )

Well, of course i would prefer SBD, but from what i understand you cant get them here(to download to Ipod)...im just trying to fill my IPOD with the best possible Grateful Dead SOUNDING shows. Some people like audience downloads......i personally dont like them at all.Who would?....but i found that list you posted from that site, most of them are crap. I think the guy was just putting up his Personnal favorite shows...I KNOW there is some great sounding auds on here,so ill just keep searching

One of the best sounding AUDs and best-performed shows available on this site. 5-star show & sound:

Great minds.... ;-)

I would also encourage our "newbie" friend to check out 6/22/73 but he said "nothing before '77"...which is too bad since 6/22/73 is my #2 pick for best AUD on this site.

The BirdSong is a top 3 all time, IMO.

Get out of my head. For pre-77 AUD's, the PNE is truly special. Amazing quality for the time and exceptional peformance to boot. I agree that the Birdsong is one of the best ever (IMHO). Also, for pre-77, we can't forget the 8/5+6/71 Hollywood Palladium. Again, quality holds it's own agains many later tapes.
